A Prayer for Grace to Steady our Ship
Gracebased |
Father of Grace,
As parents in this frenetic world,
we struggle to stay balanced.
At times we swing between
fear and performance like it’s our job,
listening to every voice but yours, Father.
So right now,
before I yield to the details
of another day,
I pause and ask for your help
to let grace set the pace
for our family.
(Take a few deep breaths before continuing)
The pace of performance is relentless
and sacrifices true connection with our kids.
Forgive us for worshiping control
and reaching for life hacks
to shortcut the hard work of
shepherding our children in patient love.
Help us slow down
and truly see our children.
The pace of fear is suffocating,
holding us back from healthy growth.
Forgive us for worshiping safety,
for bubbling our children
to avoid pain or mistakes—
loving the illusion of security
more than the formation of their hearts.
Help us let go and trust that
your grace is always enough.
Jesus, would you steady our ship
as we navigate life’s
ever-changing waters?
Remind us that you are
God of the storm and the calm,
God of the body and the soul,
God of the child and the parent.
Help us, Lord, to lead our families
the way you lead us:
with grace as our anchor,
our lighthouse, our map.
We surrender once again to you, Lord,
knowing you are trustworthy and good
in all you do.
Amen.
