A Prayer for Imparting Purpose in our Kids.
Gracebased |
Lord Christ,
When you walked among us in flesh,
you called the little children to yourself,
praying for them and telling those around you
that “the kingdom of heaven
belongs to such as these.”
What a beautiful reminder for us, Jesus!
Give me eyes to see
the children in my life
as the lighthouses they are—
guiding me back to what matters,
and shining a light on hope and faith
In a world of doubt and cynicism.
Lord, help me impart this sense
of significance to my own children.
I want them to know how
important they are in our family
and the world around them.
Remind me that chores and responsibilities
are not just useful to me, or a burden to them,
but provide a sense of pride and contribution
that will imprint on their sense of self worth
as they grow.
Give me patience to slow down to their pace,
wisdom to speak in ways they can understand,
and humility to learn from them so many
truths I often lose sight of as an adult.
What a gift children are!
May those in my care grow up knowing
they have a significant purpose in this world,
as unique image bearers of a good,
and sovereign God.
Amen
