A Prayer for Secure Love

Invisible God,

Though I have never seen you, 

I have felt your presence

over and over throughout my life.

Your love has been evident

through people and places 

that made me feel safe

and helped me believe 

I truly am who you say I am:

a beloved child of God.

I want to be this kind of person for my own kids.

I want my relationship with them to help 

and not hinder their view of you, Father.

So I pray for the patience and grace

to love them through every stage—

the wonderful ones as well as the

exhausting, 

messy,

awkward,

and painful stages.

Help me be a safe landing place for them 

on good days and bad days—

when they are at their most lovable 

and their most difficult.

Help me see them the way you see them,

eternally loved, no matter what.

May that perspective shape 

my thoughts, words, and actions—

creating a foundation of secure love,

to build upon for years to come.
