A prayer for fireworks, barbeques, and celebrating wholeheartedly
Gracebased |

Good Father,
Help me remember
An important, but often lost truth in adulting–
That celebrations,
Whether in gazing at fireworks with our family
Or gathering for smoked brisket at the neighbors,
Are both good gifts
And forming practices,
That cultivate our hearts…
To enjoy you,
And become like You.
As I watch my children
Play with sparklers,
Delight in the night sky,
And lick their barbecue-stained fingers clean–
Help me remember
To embrace good celebrations like these
And this beautiful life
You’ve given to my family and me,
Becoming more wholehearted
Like you,
Our Good Father
Always present, overflowing with joy and delight.
Amen.
