Good Father,
Give me wisdom,
And eyes to see
What you may be doing
In my child’s heart, this summer.
Help my focus
Not to be primarily on activities,
That can easily feel, if I let them,
Like I’m checking off a spiritual checklist –
Dropping them off at vacation bible school
Getting us to church after a trip
Buying them a devotional
All good things for sure…
But help me keep the main thing the main thing.
In moments where you lead,
Pointing them to relationship with you
In both word and deed.
That’s what they,
That’s what I
Most need this summer
And always.
